Is LTE available on HTC One M8 on T-Mobile?

I recently took delivery of a T-Mobile HTC One M8.  I have yet to get any indication that it is working on LTE.  My daughter has a T-Mobile iPhone 5s that regularly works on LTE.  This evening while we were out to dinner her iPhone had an LTE signal while my HTC One M8 was bouncing between HSPAP and UMTS.  I read a review of the phone that was literally posted the day I purchased my HTC One M8 that says the phone is not capable of accessing LTE in my area.  It appears to have something to do with the LTE bands.  I have been doing some reading and see that the iPhone has significantly more LTE bands listed in the phones specs than the HTC One M8.  And it does seem to me that the HTC One M8 just isn't compatible with the LTE network.  It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that T-Mobile would sell an LTE capable device that isn't able to access the LTE network in the area in which it is sold.  Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about this?

PS. I did call customer and tech support and am awaiting an answer from them.  But in the meantime I thought I would reach out to the group to see if anyone else has experienced the same issue.

This happens to me all the time too. I have another thread here where I asked why similar stuff happens in group messaging and I just got some nonsense about needing iOS messenger to be on because none of the tech people here in this forum are actual electrical or network engineers with access to the real hardware that keeps mishandling the messaging.

 

My work around is just to add some lorem ipsum or just type a bunch of swears about a certain telecom provider into the email or text message beginning and whatever nonsense heuristic gets tricked and youre good to go.

 

Pretty lame to conduct professional business with a bunch of redundancy around the phones because tmobile just can't get their system right to save their lives. I've resorted to just having every text message numbered so when someone sees a number get skipped they instantly know a message was dropped. I also have them say copy every time they receive a message because theres no way to be sure people are even receiving them at all when you send them.

 

I've already switched several lines off of tmobile for correspondence that requires a higher level of professionalism, but my boss has a set of phones on a tmobile family plan that he gets for cheap. I guess you get what you pay for right?

I ended up getting BTC450 bluetooth adapter, in order to use this, you have to have a 3.5mm AUX audio input from your car stereo. With my phone on the dash, I now have navigation, music, phone call audio all coming out of car speakers. This thing is only like $30, and in order to get such capability, car manufacture would make you pay a few thousand dollar more for the "technology" package.

Anyways, great addition to my car, excellent music audio quality and good enough microphone quality to carry out a conversation in a driving car.

I know about the update. I just need to blame it on someone. I already sent my complaint to Sony as well. It's better if these companies just don't say anything and surprise people, instead of saying anything at all as it relates to deadlines.

We went to the store to do the upgrades.  they did not have the phones we wanted, they also said they don't ever stock them that they weren't out, they just don't order them for the store (we wanted 64gb version instead of 16gb).  so they ordered the phones at the store ship to home.  I was wanting it done that way to begin with.

So now that the iPhone 6's are back in their hands and that is delt with we drove to the store today (long hot drive) to pay off of EIPS'.

 

The block that has been on our account to not allow for pay EIP off has not come off.  Even so with 3 verifications over the phone that it was fixed from CS when they told us we can drive down and pay them off.

 

What the store employee told us was we were supposed to give them our old phones, and the new phones so the system jumped our existing phones and took back the jump upgrade phones we sent back.  Technically they said we have 0 EIPs in our account.  But we will be charged at some point for our existing phones because they didnt get the back at the warehouse (because we rescinded the contract and decided to cancel upgrade obviously we arent going to give them our nearly paid for phones right) also.  Then they said we were to buy OTHER PHONES from them for full price! WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear I think that guy was going to try and confiscate our phones right then they way he said it. 

 

Seriously folks this guy was trying to sell me two ADDITIONAL lines on my plan , while at the same time telling me I have no way to pay off these EIPS until the system says so, but here have a new iPad have new bla la.  I am so glad DH was not in the store with me when this was happening.  I just told him I want to sort this out first and maybe later(NOT) . 

 

Anyway-They had no way of "allowing" us to pay for the existing phones in the end.

 

So I came home and loaded the account with 730$ of credit , that will cycle over next month.  It will remove 120$ for our monthly plan and then apply the remaining amount to our non payable EIPS' with some to spare for Tmobile ending bill when we take our business elsewhere. 

 

What a racket.  We are moving on as soon as this is over.   We will never buy a phone again from a cell phone carrier.  Any carrier.  The whole thing is unreal.  I cant believe this is what the market has turned into for cell service. 

Just unreal.  We are never going back to Tmobile, ever. ever. bye bye 6 years TmO.

Take it from someone who has managed to get wifi calling on an AT&T version of the S3 - the XDA Developers site has all the answers you need. Just ensure that you know exactly what you are doing before you try anything.

Why am i not receiving messages until hours later?

I have a lg g3 and when im texting people, i only get few messages that they send or sometimes none. Usually 12 hours to a day later im bombarded with all the messages that i never received. Why does this happen?

Word of advice...  Manufacturer

 

Think about this for a minute... Like REALLY think about this...

 

Europe always blame the manufacturers.  They always get updates first, and they always get more "support" no matter what device. HTC, and Motorola were in financial trouble for the past 3-4 years.  It was all thanks to European numbers.  HTC and Motorola changed their update policies, and became more transparent.  HTC, and Motorola pushed out updates faster than their competitors.  Honestly speaking IF T-Mobile or carriers for that matter didn't want to push out updates, and wanted people to buy devices then WHY would T-Mobile/carriers allow updates by these two companies faster than any other let alone give it out?  Manufacturers would rather you buy devices every year.  They only make money from the sale of devices and that's it.  Google uses what they make from the Google Play Store as well as their service(data retention and resell) that's why they update Android, and their Nexus devices(intended for developers, but they don't mind selling to non-developers.  Google said this back when the original Nexus One was released).

I get the notice of my update today in march almost three months after update comes out, BIG PROBLEM!!. I try downloading it it works but when it does the reboot it can't finish update cuz it can't find my sim card and my sim card works fine. Its a system error and gives me 5 options. "Reboot now." "Find field from ***" "system restore" "clear system cache" and "find from SD card" if this doesn't get updated I'm switching companies.

Domestic Data Roaming Limits

On a couple of occasions, I have run into my monthly domestic data roaming limits.  Once this happens, you are really dead in the water.  Google maps doesn't work, etc....

 

There doesn't seem to be any way to buy additional roaming data, so you are really screwed.

 

This is crazy.  I have better data roaming options internationally than domestically (I have unlimited international roaming at 2G speed, and I can buy additional high speed data if I want).  It would be really nice if T-Mobile would provide some basic low speed domestic data roaming when you hit your monthly limit so you could still get e-mails and use Google Mapls.

 

HELP!!!!

You shold be able to do it yourself... of course the dealership would expect you to come in so they can make money off you.

 

It works for my truck... I had the same problem. I reset my unit and repaired and all is well.  Best of luck to toy.

If you go to a 3rd party retailer they'll make you buy a prepaid card.  If you go to a corporate T-Mobile they'll make you sign up for service, and the phone will be locked either way.  You will have to have service and in use for 40 days.

i already schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar but I bought the phone on a contract. I am worried that I'll be stuck with this phone for 2years and I cant stop looking at the pixel. the pixel is located at the bottom screen an inch above the home button. Is right on my keyboard! Can the apple do anything to my phone although I am still paying for it?

Does music count against my free 200MB on my tablet?

I am tired of plugging and unplugging my phone into my car simply to get music and navigation every time I take a drive.  I'm thinking about buying a cheap tablet from t-mobile, maybe this one Prepaid Alcatel ONETOUCH POP 7 with No Credit Check | T-Mobile, for the reason of streaming music (probably Pandora) in my car and android powered navigation without the hassle of connecting/mounting my phone each time. 

 

There are 4 reasons I feel this is a good investment.

  • T-mobile offers free data for life on tablets.
  • My tablet should last a long time since it will be permanently mounted in my car.
  • T-mobile doesn't count music streaming services against my data allotment.
  • My navigation app doesn't routinely go over 200MB as measured by my phone and if it did I can still resort back to my phone in an emergency.

 

Has anyone tried this?  If so, are there any words of wisdom you could pass along?
